Urban-dwelling Canadian moms now have the inside scoop on local events, shops, restaurants and cafes in their neighbourhood through the City Mom Now network of sites.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.
Vancouver – October 17, 2011. Christine Pilkington, CEO and founder of Crisp Media Inc., is pleased to announce the launch of City Mom Now, a network of hyper-local online magazines for moms who love exploring their cities.
“Moms are busy so it’s important to make the most out of every outing,” says Pilkington. Through these sites, Pilkington seeks to appeal to a new generation of moms, who want more than the mom-fare found in mainstream magazines and other traditional media. “Our sites ask, ‘Who is a city mom now?’ and answer with thoughtful and intelligent articles to answer her needs. In addition to soccer and minivans, modern moms are also interested in the new organic butcher that has opened up down the street, the cool funky restaurant that has a secret stash of crayons and colouring books or the best place to get your kids’ haircut in the city.”
Filled with yummy places to eat, unique places to shop, and cool neighbourhoods to walk, City Mom Now sites go further than parenting advice and tips and focus on topics that appeal to moms. The sites uncover local finds and hidden gems for urban-minded moms – with or without their kids in tow.
“Our sites are for moms who love where they live,” says Pilkington. “Today’s moms know that it’s possible to enjoy the best of their cities with a baby on their hip and a child by their side.” A mom of three, Pilkington returned back to her home city Vancouver two years ago after living in Toronto for 13 years.
There are 3.9 million moms in Canada with children 18 years’ old and younger living with them.
Building on its two-year success with VancouverMom.ca, which has garnered coverage on Breakfast Television, CBC, Global, CKNW and more, Crisp Media today also announces the release of its second City Mom Now site Toronto Mom Now. This new site promises local mom contributors who are ready to share the very best from their neighbourhoods. “Whether its Leslieville, Roncesvalles, The Annex or The Junction,” says Pilkington, “we know moms care deeply about what’s going on around the corner from where they live.”
Pilkington hopes to add additional markets, including Calgary and Ottawa, to the network by early next year. “We’re actively recruiting City Directors who want to share the very best of what their city has to offer moms.”
