Honeybee is a locally owned and operated artist studio created by photographer and naturally-artistic local Mom, Ashley Skjaveland. Just imagine, a lovely space in Red Deer that appeals to both children & parents together! They deeply believe and encourage the mantra “process over product” in the studio. The experience of art is such an important, healing part of the process. With a love for honest, everyday beauty and a deep desire for creative expression, Honeybee is an inspiring place to explore again and again.
Littlebee Play Time
“Littlebee play time is studio time reserved specifically for preschool aged children (ages 24 months to 4 years), and their parents. Age appropriate art supplies and activities are provided during this time, which encourage independent creativity in a worry free environment. Blend together elements of art, play and comfort as well as space to explore with friends about the same age. The studio offers a cozy and beautiful setting to relax, create and enjoy with your littlebee.”
Drop-in
“Drop-in time offers busy parents the ease of a thoughtful pre planned activity. How wonderful it is to enjoy a creative activity with your child without the hassle of set up, gathering supplies and clean up. At Honeybee all this work is done for you. The studio provides a beautiful space for you to simply enjoy and be present in an intimate, creative setting. Even if you are creative at home, it is so nice to simply get into a new environment and explore something different. It’s healing. Please remember, this is not a drop-off childcare service. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.”
With soft light, beautiful textures, tables, cushions to sit upon & lots of handmade details, the Honeybee studio is a space oh so lovely to visit. The cozy size limits the number of people in at once to about 8 children and a parent each. This insures a low key, intimate experience. As soon as you walk through the doors, you’ll feel the calm and collective atmosphere ~ there is no running or shouting in this studio! To busy parents, this is a little piece of heaven, indeed.

I discovered Honey Bee Art Studio last month and took my daughters there (age 3 and 7). They both loved it very much and I will definitely be going back. Honey Bee is a one of a kind experience.
