Taking time out for yourself is so important in today’s busy world but you may not have the time (or the inclination) to spend an entire day at a frou-frou day spa. That’s where funky and fresh, The Ten Spot Beauty Bar, on James Street North in Hamilton comes in!
Touted as an “anti-spa” the Ten Spot prides itself on being a low ‘tude, high-quality place to be pampered but in a bright, social atmosphere. What you won’t find at The Ten Spot: sleepy spa music, ladies in robes, hushed voices and aromatherapy scents. What you will find at The Ten Spot: incredibly friendly staff, a variety of magazines, an i-Pad to use while you’re having a pedicure and movies playing on a flat screen (with muted sound). Complimentary WIFI is available to use on your own device and if you need some juice, plugs and charging cords are on hand. This place has thought of everything!
Upon arrival, you’ll be offered coffee, tea or water and if you’re having a nail treatment you can choose from a plethora of shades, including one from the proprietary line of products aptly named, “Get Nailed”. In addition to polish, the line also includes lotions and scrubs with unique and heavenly scents. Your esthetician will use them during your service and you’ll be glad she did.

If you’re one of those lucky ladies who have been able to convince the man in your life to pamper himself then you’ll be interested in the complete list of Gent Grooming services. Services for ladies include, but are not limited to, nail treatments, waxing and facials. For those hard-to-wax areas you’ll have your treatment done in a private room complete with a flat screen TV so that you don’t have to engage in an awkward conversation while your nether-regions are being groomed. If you are heading in for a pedi, don’t shave those toes before you go; a complimentary toe wax is included!
Other things to love about this Beauty Bar? You can book online and you’ll receive an email the day before reminding you of your appointment. They offer monthly upkeep pricing for nail treatments as well as Quickie Manicures and Pedicures. If you only have 15 minutes to spare (for a mani, 30 mins for a pedi) and just want your nails cleaned up and polished, this is a fantastic service. The Ten Spot also has a Club Card where you can accumulate points towards free services.
This City Mom recently had a pedicure at The Ten Spot and it was the best one I’ve ever had. The time spent on my feet was amazing and almost two weeks later, with regular moisturizing, my feet are still soft and the polish is shiny and in tact. I will definitely be going back soon!
